Armor Designs Phase 1 Build-Out

HVAC, process piping and electrical engineering services for the Phase 1 Build-out of Armor Designs facility in Phoenix, Arizona.  The Phase 1 Build-out includes the Shooting Range, two (2) new hydraulic presses, a 4,000 SF class 100,000 cleanroom, a Quality Control Lab, and a coating, mix, and grinding area.

SUMMARY

HVAC and plumbing design for the new 25,000 SF tenant improvement in Phoenix, Arizona. The project included 10,000 SF of data room, UPS and battery rooms along with 15,000 SF of office area. Air-cooled computer room air conditioning units were utilized for environmental control in the data, UPS and battery rooms. Packaged rooftop heat pump units were utilized in the office areas for temperature control. A special, redundant, hydrogen exhaust system was designed for the battery room per City of Phoenix requirements. Construction completed in 2002.

SUMMARY

HVAC and plumbing design for 7,300 SF of communications facility at the Terry Ranch, Colorado site. The project included 2,500 SF of remodeled space containing switchgear and a 1,300 amp DC power plant. It also included a 4,800 SF new addition containing high-density switchroom space and a 3,000 amp DC power plant. The design used redundant packaged air-conditioning units in the remodel area and redundant, air-cooled computer room air conditioning units in the new addition. Hydrogen detection systems and redundant exhaust systems were provided in the DC power plants. A 5,000 gallon underground diesel fuel storage system was added for the new back-up generator. Construction completed in 2002.

Pillsbury Bakery HVAC

SUMMARY

This project included field verification of the locations and sizes of the HVAC systems including the make-up air units and exhaust ductwork in the 13,500 SF baking area of the Tempe, Arizona facility. This information was then entered into an AutoCad drawing for future use by the Owner. A study was performed to determine the additional capacity available for the make-up air and natural gas systems. Project completed in 2001.

SUMMARY

HVAC design for an HVAC system retrofit in the 22,500 SF switchroom in the Compton, California facility. This project included the replacement of 20 computer room air conditioning (CRAC) units, the addition of 4 new CRAC units and the replacement of 6 cooling towers while maintaining the existing systems in operation. The design included a redundant make-up water supply for the cooling towers. Construction completed in 2002.

Pillsbury Bakery Plumbing

As-built the plumbing systems for a 67,000 SF bakery/shipping center in Tempe, Arizona. This project included field verification of the locations and sizes of all exposed plumbing systems including building waste and vent, domestic cold and hot water, natural gas piping and compressed air piping. This information was then entered into an AutoCad drawing for use by the Owner. Project completed in 2001.

AVNET ISD Chandler Computer Room Expansion

HVAC and plumbing design for a 4,400 SF expansion of the main computer room and adjacent support areas for the AVNET ISD facility in Chandler, Arizona. In addition, the design includes a 1,000 SF UPS/Battery Room with a special hydrogen detection and exhaust system. Construction completed in 2001.

Global Crossing Switch Build-Out, Phase 2

SUMMARY

HVAC design for the Phase 2 build-out of the telecommunications switching facility for Global Crossing at its Phoenix Sky Harbor Center. This project included the addition of 75 tons of air-cooled computer room air conditioning equipment in the 4,100 SF Switchroom. This also included a special HVAC system for the 400 SF Rectifier/Battery Room. This HVAC system included a hydrogen exhaust and detection system along with a 5 ton computer room air conditioning unit. Construction completed in 2001.

MCI/WorldCom 3300 North Central Remodel

SUMMARY

HVAC design for the remodel of approximately 7,000 SF of switchroom space in Phoenix, Arizona. This included the addition of 55 tons of water-cooled computer room air conditioning equipment along with the installation of a new condenser water pumping system with 100% redundancy. A special hydrogen exhaust system was designed to remove hydrogen exhaust from the battery racks in the switchrooms. This exhaust system incorporated hooded enclosures, which were exhausted through specially designed window panels in this high-rise building. Construction completed in 2001.
